My series of frank discussions about independent publishing continues as Daniel Ross guides me through a detailed tour of the Amazon KDP salt mines. We dissect the entire (demoralizing) process of self-publishing, from market research to writing to advertising, and search for some small remenant of hope or joy in a world dominated by audience micro-targeting and algorithmic keyword optimization.
As before, this conversation is completely unscripted and unedited, so expect plenty of my awkward, stuttering vocalizations and perhaps a few audio glitches. Thank goodness “authentic” is a synonym for “lazy.”
