A Candid Conversation on Bear Creek

I’m not going to equivocate here: the Stuart Buck situation has fucked me up. It just does not make sense. I really, sincerely considered Stu a friend. I honestly thought Bear Creek was a model for other presses and publications to emulate. I was hilariously, tragically wrong. I feel like a moron.

In the hopes of finding some clarity and catharsis, I sat down (not literally) with Rudy Johnson and Derek Maine to discuss our thoughts and feelings about the events of the last couple months. The three of us worked closely with Stu on The Last Estate, and Rudy had an upcoming short story collection with Bear Creek. We knew Stu well. We thought we did.
